Giving me Life
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
There are many things in life that can take up our time and attention. Sometimes, these things promise us the ultimate satisfaction, enjoyment, or popularity we crave. But we can also recall the many times when these things, or people, did not keep their promises. We felt unsatisfied, let down, embarrassed or confused. It’s a hard but necessary truth that God reveals to us in different ways: Jesus is the ultimate source of hope, peace, and life. When we chase after materialistic accomplishments or people to give us life that only Jesus can give, we will always come up short.
Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Life will tell us that there are many ways to find happiness and purpose. But God created us so that having a relationship with Him by accepting Jesus to be our Lord and Savior is the only way to have abundant life and purpose. We would not go looking for life in a graveyard. The image is a little morbid, yes, but that’s exactly what it looks like when we seek pleasure and popularity over a relationship with God. Every day, we have the freedom to choose full, true, eternal life through Jesus Christ.
In love and veritas,
